This blue and white mermaid headpiece was inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi. This art involves repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. I love this idea and wanted to do something similar with seashells. I first decoupaged the shells with pretty blue and white paper. I then used a combination of glue and gold paint to give them the look of having repaired cracks. These shells are arranged into a 1.3” wide headband along with antique brass filigree and gold painted turretella shells. The headband is lined with a variety of hydrangeas in shades of white, navy and royal blue. The headband is a bitt weighty due to the shells, but still easy and comfy to wear. It will fit most adults. This piece will enjoy a longer when worn and stored with gentle care, and kept dry.

The kintsugi mermaid crown is one of a kind, ready to ship, and includes free US shipping.
